It’s not that they wanted Barabbas… he was sentenced to death by the courts of the people.
It’s that they didn’t want Jesus.
To choose Jesus was to turn their institutions and religious systems upside down.
To choose Jesus meant having to look at themselves in the reflection of who Jesus was to see who they really were and who they were not. So in the reflection of their own pride and shame… they chose to humiliate Jesus.

It should come as no surprise – that in the reflection #churchtoo, we hear from the majority of the church and it’s leaders, “GIVE US BARABBAS!” while they humiliate and crucify victims.
