Do The Next Thing

On days when I am drenched in the trench… when the rain of ruin runs freely through the guts and gutters of life, I ascribe to the gospel of “Do The Next Thing.”

Wash the sheets, feed the children, walk the dog, mop the floor.

There is much mercy in the mundane.

In Praise of Him…

Love never stops wanting what is or what would have been best for the beloved… I love him deep.

Love

Love is the only gift best given – when least deserved.

A Room of One’s Own

“A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.” – Virginia Woolf

I Want to Tell You…

I want to tell you the truth –  in detail.

I want to explain and I have some ‘splaining to do.

I want to tell you that through the all the lies, the truth will prevail.

I want to tell you the things that are true.

The Truncating Trenches of Trauma

All who try to climb out of the trenches of trauma need years of support. First in the trench; second to scale the wall with repeated falls; third to deal with inevitable blows from the front lines of life once they rise on wobbly legs. In the church we have a tendency to weaken the wounded; Christ strengthend them.

How unlike Christ, Christians can be.

Little Doll

doll: a small model of a human figure, often one of a baby or girl, used as a man’s toy.

A Person To Whom Things Happened

WooIf was lifted at age six up in front of the hall mirror in her home by her half brother and fondled. She would later go on to be molested nightly by another half brother for a season. She understandably suffered from what she called “looking glass shame”, an aversion to seeing her image in the mirror. “It is difficult,” says Woolf, “to give any account to the person to whom things happened.”

Holocaust

It has been a long road back to personhood, to freedom and to feeling. I have had to relearn it slowly.

The Shoes on The Shelf

Of the seven sets of soles, I see one man type; work boots worn, requiring replacement from the relentless running; running to serve, running to provide, running to protect, running to care.
